BBC Live Events allows YOU to easily review event scoring data in various ways.  In this article I will show YOU how to use Live Events to analyze scoring for the D1 Nation's Houston Thanksgiving Jamboree held Nov. 25-26 at St. Thomas HS in Houston.    Here we go...

 Accessing the Live Events Page

To view the Live Events page, click Events on the main menu of amy page on this website and then click on the D1 Nation's Jamboree image.

Welcome to the BBC Live Event page for the D1 Nation's event!  Notice that there are a number of tabs across the top of the page.  Each tab contains different information about the event.

Click on the Stats tab and you will see stats for each player in the event.  The initial list is sorted by Game, Team and Jersey#; as in the image below:

Notice that there is a note at the top stating that Points were the only stat posted for this event.  Stats for future events will include rebounds, assists, stealsm blocks and more.

Displaying the Event's Top Scorers

Click on the Pts column header, this will sort the data from the lowest scorers to the top scorers.  Click Pts again and the order is reversed.  The view should look like the image below:

We can immediately see that the highest single game scorer was Christiam Sanders (St. Thomas) with 33 points vs. Bellaire. Ken Williams (Episcopal) had the second highest scorer with 30 points vs. New Iberia (La.).  We can also see that Sanders and Williams were the only players in the event with 30 points in a game.  Tthere where 9 players who scored 20 points or more in a single game.  There were 9 additional players who scored brtween 15 abd 19 points.

Exporting and Using Event Data

The 20+ scorers  are listed below.  Here is how I created the list for this article.  First, I clicked the Excel button at the top-left of the view.  This created an Excel workbook containing data in the current view.  Secondly, I opened the Excel file, and copied the columns that  I wanted to use to the clipboard (CTRL-C).  Last of all, I pasted (CTRL-V) the data into this article.  You can see the list below.  Of course, I could do more to format the data, but I just wanted to demonstrate how easy it is to use Live Event data for other purposes.  I did, however, add Ken Williams' nickname ("Juice") after pasting the data into this article.

Christian Sanders
St. Thomas HS
33
Ken "Juice" Williams
Episcopal HS

Bobby Reeves

Please note that the Export feature of Live Events is currently available to all users while the system is in test mode. Beginning in January 2012, Export will be a Members Only feature.

Ken Williams and Episcopal Versus Louisiana

In the Live Event view we can see that Ken Williams and his team, Episcopal, defeated both teams from Louisiana handily; Madison Prep and New Iberia.  Williams scored 52 points in those two games and is the ONLY player on the 20+ list twice!  I guess that "Juice" gets the unofficial MVP nod.  The BBC will publish a "Juicy" video soon, stay tuned...

If we look a bit firther down the list we discover that Christian Sanders also had an 18 point game.  That gives him a two game total of 51 points in St. Thomas' wins over Brazosport and Bellaire.  Watch the BBC for video featuring St. Thomas' Sanders,  Chase Brogna (18p vs. Bellaire and 16p vs. Brazosport) and others.

Filtering for Your Favorite Player

SeveraL BBC Member Players were in this event.  Let's see how they fared.  To filter for Robert Hatter (), I simply typed 'hatter' in the field below "Player", clicked the filter button next to the field, and selected "Contains".  I get a list of games that contain abyone with 'hatter' in the Player column.  I n this case I got 1 row that tells ne that Robert Hatter played in one game and scored 20 points in a 56-46 win over Madision Prep (La.).  Robert scored over 30% of Westside's points total in the win.

Using the same process for each player, I found:D. J. Griggs (Brazosport-2012), 16p vs St Thomas, Jaleen Smith (Brazosport-2013), 6p vs St Thomas, Kendall Randall, (Episcopal-2013) 10p vs Madison Prep and 8p vs New Iberia).
